PLANT CITY – A Plant City resident recently won HR Block's top award for outstanding customer service.

Laura Hamil, who has worked at HR Block for 16 years, was among 25 recipients of the company's annual Henry W. Bloch Award for Excellence in Client Service.

She was nominated for the honor by her supervisor, an HR Block spokeswoman said.

"She is passionate about service, educating clients about HR Block products, reviewing prior year returns and thoroughly answering questions throughout the year," the company said in a news release.

This year, Hamil helped more than 500 clients for HR Block, the nation's largest tax preparer.

HR Block said it annually recognizes 25 company and franchise professionals with the award for "extraordinary efforts in client service, exceptional tax expertise and display of company values."

The award is named in honor of Henry W. Bloch, co-founder and honorary chairman of HR Block and chairman of The HR Block Foundation.

Award winners were invited to the company's world headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., for a tour, lunch and a question and answer session with Bloch. The visit also included an awards banquet and dinner hosted by HR Block senior executives.
